Why comparing iPhone recycler prices matters
No recycler consistently pays the most across all models. Different recyclers have different strengths:
- Some pay more for flagship iPhones (15 Pro and above)
- Others are stronger on older models (iPhone 11, 12, 13)
- Payment speed varies from 24 hours to 5 working days
- Some offer PayPal; others bank transfer only
GadgetRank shows all of these factors alongside the price so you can make the right decision for your situation.
Before you sell — checklist
Back up your iPhone. iCloud: Settings → Your Name → iCloud → iCloud Backup. Or connect to your Mac and back up via Finder.
Sign out of iCloud. The most important step. Settings → Your Name → Sign Out. This removes Activation Lock. A locked iPhone has zero value to any recycler.
Factory reset. Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Erase All Content and Settings.
Remove your SIM. You will need it for your next phone.
Photograph your iPhone. Front, back and sides before you package it. Evidence of condition if any dispute arises.
When is the best time to sell my iPhone?
The best time to sell is before Apple announces a new iPhone — typically in September each year. Prices for outgoing models drop by 15–20% in the weeks around a new announcement as trade-in volumes spike.
July and August 2026 are good months to sell current-generation iPhones before iPhone 18 is announced.
After September 2026, prices will drop across the board. If you are planning to sell, acting before the announcement is worth £20–50 on most models and £60–100 on Pro models.
